Cocoa Production
The main cocoa producing countries are:
- West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria & Cote D’Ivoire) – known for growing some of the world’s best quality cocoa
- South America (Brazil & Ecuador)
- Asia (Malaysia & Indonesia) – cocoa is a relatively new crop here but is increasingly becoming an important growing area

The graph above, gives a visual demonstration of the amount of cocoa that had been produced by the top 10 producing countries in 2011. The graph proves that Africa is the continent producing the largest amounts of cocoa with Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria (African countries) being in the top 4 and in particular, Cote d'Ivoire clearly being the largest producing country of the 10.

The Pie Graph above gives a different visual representation of the top 10 cocoa producing countries in 2011. Graph #2 clearly shows how Cote d'Ivoire was resposible for 33% of the worlds cocoa production in 2011, whilst both Ghanna and Indonesia being the second highest at 17%. Togo, Peru and the Dominican Republic were the 3 countries producing the least amount of the worlds cocoa with only 1-2%.

The map above gives a different perspective of the distribution of cocoa production compared to graphs #1 and #2 as it shows the spatial distribution of where the top 10 cocoa producing countries are in correlation to each other on a world map. The map shows that the cocoa is only produced in South America, West Africa, and a small part of Asia.
